Our Team

Angela Jones, Owner

Angela Jones founded Southern Picnics in September 2020. She received a Bachelor’s degree in Writing and Literature from the University of Pittsburgh in 2011 and a Digital Media and Marketing Certification from Duke University in 2017. She has lived in Raleigh, North Carolina since 2017 and has set up more than 200 luxury picnics.

In addition to owning Southern Picnics, she serves as an SEO Director at a marketing agency, leading a department of Analysts and Content Specialists. She’s worked in the SEO industry since 2017 and before then she worked in the non-profit sector in marketing, communications, and event planning roles for several years. Over the years she’s planned various events like galas, golf outings, and happy hours.

Angela is an avid antique collector and loves to go antiquing in her free time. She enjoys collecting antique etiquette books, chinoiserie-style decor, and vintage Christmas decor. She also enjoys cooking for loved ones and hosting gatherings alongside her husband at her home in Raleigh.

Kenna King, Event Planner

Kenna King is a program management professional with 6+ years of experience in professional event planning and logistics. After graduating Summa Cum Laude with her BA in International Affairs from George Washington University, she spent 5 years at World Learning organizing exchange programs sponsored by the U.S. Department of State. This position involved implementing high-scale events in Europe, Asia, and North America for 8 to 100 participants, including dignitaries and C-suite executives.

Prior to World Learning, Kenna had a variety of experiences in public relations, government work, and youth programming. She is currently an Event Manager at Marbles Kids Museum, planning family-friendly and 21+ events.

In her free time, Kenna is the Vice President of Cary Sister Cities, a Mentor at Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Triangle, and Head of the Birthday Card Committee at Meals on Wheels Wake County. She also enjoys drawing custom greeting cards, antiquing, and decorating her home in Cary, NC.

Lauren Boyle, Social Media Marketing Intern

Lauren Boyle joined Southern Picnics in May 2026 as the Social Media Marketing Intern. Lauren is a rising junior at Chapman University in Orange, California, where she is pursuing a double major in Dance and Strategic Communication and is in the Honors College. She is a member of Delta Gamma, where she is the Director of Special Events, and plans and coordinates all large-scale events for her sorority. 

Prior to joining Southern Picnics, Lauren worked as a Social Media Intern for the Academy for the Performing Arts in Apex last summer, managing digital content and running their professional accounts. She has also worked as a dance teacher and choreographer in North Carolina since 2021, and newly in California, where she has worked with children of all ages.


Lily Salyer, Assistant Event Planner

Lily Salyer has served as an Assistant Event Planner at Southern Picnics since February 2023. She is also a student at North Carolina State University pursuing a degree in Public Relations.

Before Southern Picnics, Lily worked as an Event Coordinator at Party Like A Princess and was also a photographer for Denise Renee Photography.
